How to contact us
The Whopper Cropper Project is a collaborative project between the Agricultural Production Systems Research Unit (APSRU) of the Queensland Departments of Primary Industries (DPI) and Natural Resources and Mines (NRM), CSIRO's Divisions of Sustainable Ecosystems and Land and Water, and the University of Queensland, and the Queensland Centre for Climate Application (QCCA) of DPI and NRM.
The version of Whopper Cropper described in this manual (Version 2.1) is the first to be released for use by accredited extension professionals. Previous versions (1.2 and 2.0) were developed by APSRU with a small group of extension professionals within DPI and trialled in farmer-driven workshops. Extension professionals and interested farmers can become accredited users of Whopper Cropper by completing a one-day workshop run by the DPI's Queensland Centre for Climate Applications (QCCA). For more information about becoming an accredited user of Whopper Cropper, please contact:

Whopper Cropper is an extension tip of a research ice-berg, and much is owed to those who have contributed to the development of APSIM and earlier versions of Whopper Cropper. Alan Jamieson and Holger Meinke played leading roles in developing the concepts implemented in Whopper Cropper. APSIM crop module owners including Michael Robertson, Jill Turpin, Michael Bange and Peter Carberry invested considerable effort in parameterising APSIM. Mark Silburn, Neal Dalgliesh, Robin Connolly, Ian Heiner and Andrew Biggs contributed soil parameters for the Whopper Cropper simulations.
Extension professionals played a key role in the design of the Whopper Cropper database and graphical user interface. Veronica Chapman and Neil Cliffe led a pilot workshop program using Whopper Cropper, and subsequent training program for extension professionals. Peter Hayman, Peter Ridge, David McRae, Damien O'Sullivan, and Ross Ballin provided much needed feedback on the design and application of Whopper Cropper.
